We are all concerned about keeping our books in good order, so we treat them with care. In cooperation with teachers and the librarian, the students work on specific subjects using library materials to learn how to use different resources.

The school fruit and vegetable scheme

The SCHOOL SCHEME is a new agricultural policy measure providing aid for the supply of fruit, vegetables, milk and milk products in educational establishments.  It was launched in the 2017/2018 school year. The basis for its planned and effective implementation is this strategy, which has been adopted for a six-year period from the 2017/2018 school year to the 2022/2023 school year.

The promoters of the measure are the Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia. The implementer of the measure is the Agricultural Markets and Rural Development Agency of the Republic of Slovenia. The European Union provides funding to Member States for the free distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables to pupils in primary schools. The aim of the measure is to encourage a trend towards the consumption of fruit and vegetables, which have a high nutritional and protective value for health. These fruits have the advantage of being locally produced and are not exposed to long transport routes and storage, which reduces the biological and nutritional value and quality of the food.

Pupils consume fruit or vegetables which are offered separately from school snacks and lunches. In parallel, accompanying educational and promotional activities are carried out at the school (science days, projects, class lessons, in-class content, parent-teacher meetings, etc.). Pupils also fill in a survey twice a year for the National Public Health Institute. They monitor the effectiveness of the implementation of the School Fruit Scheme and report to the European Commission.

SPECIAL SERVICES

ABOUT SPECIAL SERVICES

KINDERGARDEN

ABOUT KINDERGARDEN

Activities take place in the kindergarten’s playroom and, to a large extent, outdoors. Around our school, there are many opportunities to learn outdoors. We have a school garden, a sensory path and an outdoor classroom. There is also a large playground. The school surroundings offer numerous opportunities to spend time in nature exploring the meadows, a brook or simply going for a walk.

In the classroom, the children have the opportunity to play in relaxation corners as the most natural way for children to learn. The teacher is only a facilitator. She provides all the necessary resources, organises the activities and uses her leadership skills to guide the children towards the desired planned developmental goals. Her role is invisible, as the child’s initiative and activity are very important. At 11.30 to 12.30 they prepare for lunch. Children help serve lunch to the best of their abilities. After that, they tidy up the classrooms. A rest period follows, which is not compulsory but only offered. Children, or their parents, who feel that the child no longer needs rest, do not rest but can play quiet games, listen to music, stories, etc. The teacher takes care of the individual needs of the child and the smooth running of rest, play, etc. From 14.00 to 14.30 the children have a snack. After that, they usually spend time outdoors.
